Hobo Stu

Hello everyone,

Those of you who aren’t from the DC/Maryland/Virgina area may be unfamiliar with Buzz Burbank, but trust me when I tell you that the guy is a talented and accomplished broadcaster. Even if you have never listened to Buzz on the Don and Mike Show or the Mike O’Meara Show, I hope you will still check out the interview we did with him this week. Those of you who remember the glory days of radio should appreciate Buzz’s trip down memory lane.

Speaking of radio shows – I was listening to this week’s Hobo Radio Podcast earlier today and I was surprised to hear Joel and Lars tell some rather outlandish tales about yours truly. While I will neither confirm nor deny many of the claims they made about me, I will say that the statue of me eating a sandwich does indeed exist and it is glorious to behold.

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

One on One with Buzz Burbank
The economy is in dire straights, the war in Iraq seems endless and American cities continue to get hit by natural disasters. Let’s face it, the news isn’t very easy to digest these days. That’s why it helps to have a broadcaster who can offer you a spoonful of sugar to help the awful news go down – someone like Buzz Burbank.

We recently had a chance to catch up with Burbank, a veteran broadcaster who became well-known for his role on the nationally syndicated Don and Mike Show and is now an integral part of the Mike O’Meara Show.

Murphy’s Law – One Shot: The Starter Wife
Anyone who has seen an ad for The Starter Wife already knows that Debra Messing’s character lives in “a crazy world” – a world filled with the sweet sounds of Bow Wow Wow’s hit song “I Want Candy.” This week, Joel Murphy steps into that crazy world and gives The Starter Wife one chance to impress him.

Note to Self – The only show in town
If you’ve been following the media coverage of the NFL this season, you probably think that the Dallas Cowboys are the only team that matters. But the team that many “experts” declared a lock to win the NFC has struggled this season and currently find themselves 4-2 in a very competitive NFC East.

Outside of the In-Crowd – You say she’s crazy? She’s gotch yo crazy
While most people wrote off Britney Spears after her crazy antics last year, Courtney Enlow remained loyal to the pop star and held out hope that Spears would one day turn her career around. Now that Britney’s new song “Womanizer” has become a hit, it seems that day has finally come and Enlow couldn’t be happier.

Overrated – Smoke-free bars and restaurants
Many states have banned smoking in bars and restaurants in an effort to protect patrons’ health. Ned Bitters feels that as long as those bars and restaurants are allowed to sell fatty foods and copious amounts of alcohol to their customers, the idea of banning smoking for health reasons is overrated.

Week 65 Spotlight: Ranting and raving

You have probably all realized by now that Joel Murphy is filled with a considerable amount of rage. This week, it all comes spilling out of him in an extra-long podcast covering a variety of topics.

Joel and Lars give their thoughts on Joe the Plumber and the rumor that Téa Leoni is leaving David Duchovny for Billy Bob Thornton. Then Joel pulls back the curtain and shares a little known fact about himself. The dynamic duo wraps things up with a chat about Hobo Stu and a contractually obligated Batman discussion.

Why does Billy Bob Thornton continue to hook up with attractive Hollywood stars? Why have John McCain, Barack Obama and the media spent the last few days talking about a plumber? What activity does Joel secretly despise? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.

Hobo Radio is the official podcast of HoboTrashcan, brought to you by The Podcast Network.
