Why would that make sense? Why wouldn’t Kate leave Aaron with Carole Littleton? Especially since the latter was in L.A. when Flight 316 left?

In regards to Jack and Kate, I can be a bit harsh on them, sometimes. I usually feel that Jack deserves my spite, but Kate gets a bum rap from time to time. Like in the last episode, I fully understand that she’s going through something that would produce shock and remorse and is seeking out solace, and I’m willing to give her a little leeway. Unfortunately, she has a bad history of just doing whatever it is that Kate feels like doing. One day she’s with Sawyer, the next day she’s jealous of Juliet because she’s getting along with Jack. She just drives me up a wall.

And Jack? Well, he’s just a jackass.

Good call on Kate leaving Aaron with Cassidy and Clementine. I didn’t think of that, but it would make a LOT of sense. Nice going!

Yeah, Hurley’s release isn’t a mystery, it’s just how he knew to be on the plane. I still think Charlie told him and also told him what to bring.

Some thoughts:
Ben’s Bloodied Appearance on the Docks:
If he did indeed go to Desmond’s boat in the hopes of killing Penny, it may have been Widmore or his employees who beat the bejusus out of Ben. Widmore told Desmond that he hasn’t seen Penny in three years and that he is very worried about her safety, He implied that he assumed she was with Des. Do you really think Widmore let Des just walk out of there without putting some sort of tail or protective detail on Des? I don’t! Neither does Penny, for she told Des not to underestimate her father.

Re: AWOL Aaron: My first thought was that Kate left Aaron with Cassidy, to be raised with Clementine. We haven’t seen too many friends of Kate (who are still alive, anyway) other than Cassidy, and we know she has been in contact with Cassidy since she returned, at Sawyer’s request when he jumped from the helicopter. If Kate makes it back from her second trip to Craphole Island, she stands a far better chance of retrieving Aaron from Cassidy than from Carole Littleton.

It’s also possible that when Locke visited Kate, he told her what to do with Aaron so that she could return to the Island without him.

Re: Hurley’s release from the Big House: This was already covered in The Little Prince. Agostini, Ben’s lawyer, told Ben that Hurley would be released in the morning because the police had no case. No mystery there. I think Charlie told him to get on the plane, because there is no one else he’d listen to (well, maybe Libby–he quickly disregarded AnaLucia’s advice not to get arrested.)

Re: Kate and Jack’s creepy makeout scene: Kate’s apparently mourning Aaron, as she’s not sure she will ever see him again if she tries to return to the Island. It’s not all that unusual for people in grief and terror to seek out a seal liaison, to feel alive and also to block out all other emotions for the moment. Yes, it was creepy, but if you’ve ever been in a situation of intense grief or shock, you can see it playing out that way. (Similar to the baby boom after every major disaster.)
