Week 78 Spotlight: Why aren’t we watching the Watchmen?
Today, Watchmen hits theaters and surprisingly, Joel Murphy and Lars Periwinkle aren’t camped out in front of a multiplex. It seems that our nerdy co-hosts are excited about Watchmen, but they just can’t muster the energy to go out and actually see the film this weekend.
To make matters worse, Joel has never even read Watchmen, so he turns to Lars this week to find out what all the hype is about. The two also find the time to discuss Buffalo Bill from from Silence of the Lambs and a woman named Caitlin Batman Shaw.
Why is Watchmen so great? What exactly are Christmas Beer Pancakes? Why does it no longer sound like Joel is at the bottom of a well? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
Hobo Radio is the official podcast of HoboTrashcan, brought to you by The Podcast Network.

I’m quite surprised that you’ve never read The Watchmen, Joel. The layers! The complexity! The awesomeness!

Also: Recipe for Beer Pancakes. Sorry, I’m a librarian. I couldn’t help but try to find one for you. Enjoy.
INGREDIENTS
* 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
* 1/4 cup white sugar
* 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 cup beer
* 2 tablespoons butter, melted
DIRECTIONS
1. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in the egg, beer and melted butter; stir with a whisk just until blended – a few lumps are okay.
2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Coat with vegetable oil or cooking spray. Spoon about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake. When bubbles appear on top of the pancakes, flip, and cook until browned on the other side.

J – I know, I know, I really need to read Watchmen. I actually put my name on the hold list for it at the Boston Public Library, but I’m number 72 on the list. I may just go and buy it.
And those pancakes sound awesome. We could just throw in some sprinkles and perhaps toss in a little green food coloring and we’ve got Christmas Beer Pancakes.
Thanks for listening to the show. Doesn’t it sound a lot better this week (the audio, not the content)?

I’m totally going to have beer pancakes for dinner tonight, just to try out the recipe. I can’t believe I never thought of this myself!
And I love the show, whether you’re recording from the bottom of a well or not. No other podcast makes me look like a crazy person laughing to myself as I listen to it on the T (or at work, as the case is today). But, yes, it sounds way less shitty.
And I’d loan you my copy of The Watchmen, but no one in this city actually talks to one another, so you’re on your own for that. Just go buy a damn copy already.

Crap. And I just typed “The Watchmen.” Instead of just “Watchmen.” It would bother me, so I’m correcting myself. Sorry. Ok, I’ll stop now. And actually go do my job.
