Hobo Stu’s Weekly Recap

Hello everyone,
As most of you undoubtedly failed to notice, the past two weeks there hasn’t been a new Hobo Radio podcast. While this information is surely not causing a majority of our hobo fans to lose any sleep, I did want to let you half-dozen podcast fans know what was going on.
As you know by now, every week the show features a “contractually-obligated Batman discussion.” When Lars negotiated his contract, he didn’t ask for money or any perks. The only thing he wanted was to be able to talk about Batman every single week.
Well, to be honest with all of you, the Batman news is getting pretty thin. It’s going to be a while before a new Batman movie comes out, the Batman video game was pushed back until the end of summer and DC Comics seems content to continue on with their boring Dick Grayson Batman stories, so there just isn’t much to talk about. So Lars is officially on strike until we can find more Batman news to discuss.
If you want to see the show come back, I suggest putting on a Batman costume, breaking into Sea World and punching a dolphin in the face.
Just make sure the press is there to cover it.
Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:
Murphy’s Law – Do it for Mal
With TV in rerun mode, Joel Murphy has been turning to his Netflix account for entertainment. After catching up on the series Firefly and watching Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Murphy has decided that both Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion are at their best when they work together, so this week he argues they should only do projects with each other.
Note to Self – Learning LeBron
When LeBron James stormed off the court after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Orlando Magic in the NBA conference finals, many fans and sports analysts were upset, but Brian Murphy wasn’t bothered by it. This week, Murphy argues that up until that point the superstar had handled the pressure of living in the spotlight remarkably well and that we should all forgive him this one transgression.
Outside of the In-Crowd – I don’t know why you’re famous
Courtney Enlow has already spoken out against reality television stars in a previous column, but this week she focuses in on an even lower rung on the celebrity totem pole – people who are famous for no particular reason. She takes a look at Victoria Beckham, Katie Price and Pheobe Price and attempts to figure out why people continue to care about them.
Positive Cynicism – Convicted without even committing a crime
While everyone agrees that anyone who looks at child pornography should be behind bars, this week Aaron R. Davis explores an area of the law that isn’t quite so clear. If the “child pornography” in question is really just a comic book and the characters depicted are “childlike,” but have no specific age, is it still a crime? Davis believes it isn’t and he makes his case in this week’s column.
From the Vault – One on One with Chris Caldovino
These days, The Sopranos controversial fade to black finale has become infamous, but back in June of 2007, everyone was still trying to figure out how the show was going to end. One theory floating around was that Phil Leotardo would kill Tony Soprano as payback for the death of his brother Billy.
It was an interesting scenario, but one that was almost never possible. Chris Caldovino revealed in a 2007 interview with us that his Billy Leotardo character was created at the last minute to resolve a naming conflict. Caldovino also talked about life on The Sopranos, his film Brooklyn Rules and his thoughts on how he wanted to see The Sopranos end. If you missed the interview then, enjoy it now.
