I agree Joelle. But what happens now?

Does print just roll over and take it?

How does a magazine you dish out dough for compete with some of the awesome free raunchiness you can find on said ‘internets’?

Plus, with the advent of hand held internet access – the argument for portability doesn’t even exist anymore. Added Bonus: No more sticky pages, AND your mom won’t find the magazines tucked under your mattress. (Though I must say that while finding cartoon porn would be disturbing, it is oddly innocent at the same time – like you can’t quite bring yourself to the real thing, it’s almost sweet.)

I kinda feel like Marge was used – she is a giant commodity in this dying industry of tactfully positioned, eloquently written, and beautifully airbrushed interpretations of sexual reality.
She is the last icon of pornographic innocence before print mags fold to the encroaching powers of raw internet porn. Hold onto your hats ladies and gentlemen, we’re in for a graphic ride.

Cartoon porn: I don’t get it, either.

Regardless, I don’t think it’ll have much influence on the sales of the magazine. They might get a little boost from the publicity, but I don’t think it’ll have long-term impact.

The times they are a-changin’ and all the free stuff on the internets means that print must either adapt or fail. This tactic may have worked in 1999, but is fairly laughable now.

My big problem is that it seems highly uncharacteristic of Marge to do something like this. Sure, she has a wild streak like all hot cartoon MILFs, but I don’t think she’d pose nude in a magazine knowing that her son and his weird friend might take it up to the treehouse with them late at night when everyone is asleep . . .

I don’t understand the whole cartoon thing but then I’m too close to the average age of a playboy reader to make a difference even if I was intrigued. As someone my ageing mind can now not recall once said “why stare at the pictures in a recipe book if you’re hungry? Get off your ass and do something about your hunger!”
What would Grandpa Simpson say? Probably something about fashion being wearing an onion
on your belt.

I don’t know about anyone else but I have never bought a Playboy in my life but am going to be picking up a few of these next month for the sheer celectability of them. They will go into a box in the back of the closet and some simpsons collector a decade or two down the line will be dying for one (least thats my hope). I dont the fascination with cartoons either…. though if I could find myself a real life Lois… but I digress.

Despite the hype, Marge isn’t the first cartoon character to grace the cover of Playboy. Jessica Rabbit was: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/7213/rabbit3hf5.jpg Considering what one can find on the internet in terms of fine art photos, you can finally say you read Playboy for the articles and really mean it. I myself would much rather sit in an airport reading Playboy than Maxim. Playboy does have a certain cache due to it’s longevity, the Playboy clubs, and the quality of writers and interviews that they have (was there ever a more poignant interview than the Lennon one?)that I really don’t think people would look twice at someone reading one in public (I don’t think Maxim would be fine playground reading material either). Juggs on the other hand, may cause a problem. The photos of Marge are already on the net (I saw them on a Howard Stern message board surprise, surprise) and they are kinda cute. Nothing graphic, they are an interesting throwback and tribute to the original “Girl Next Door” look of Playboy in the 50′s and 60′s. Look at the cover and the stories that are in this issue and whether it’s Marge or that other cartoon character, Pamela Anderson, on the cover, it’s looks like a pretty interesting issue. When Haley from American Dad appears on the cover of Barely Legal, then you may have a point….
