Just reading this now. It actually wasn't a review that sparked the whole thing but a day-after INTERVIEW WITH THE SHOW'S CREATOR. So, duh, it's full of spoilers.

Couldn’t agree more. I love the slashfilm podcast and enjoy reading David Chen’s work, but I think they go a little overboard with the spoiler alerts. I think they walk on eggshells when it comes to spoilers. Once the movie or show is released, let the reader be warned that there will be spoilers. BTW, I enjoy reading your thoughts here, SF.

I see reviews all the time that warn about spoilers, and I always think "WTF?"

If I'm a fan of Survivor and I record this week's episode, I'm not going to go read a recap.

Now, links shouldn't have spoilers; i.e. a hyperlink to an episode recap shouldn't give anything away. But to say that an episode review should be spoiler-free is epically retarded.

See, the way I see it, there are two kinds of spoilers... those that you should be smart enough to avoid, and the ones where some warning would be appreciated.

If you are planning on watching a series on DVD or you have a backlog of stuff on your DVR, don't go to a site devoted to that series... it is as simple as that.

But the ones that get my goat are those ones where they come out of left field... you know you are on a forum reading a topic that isn't related to something you plan on reading/watching/playing in the near future and someone just drops a huge spoiler about it (and I am not talking about some blockbuster/cultural institution... they drop that information about a less well known item where you have a reasonable expectation that you aren't going to have something wrecked.
