Hi Chris, terrific recap and I loved your “LA X” Analysis. I’ve been following you since you started writing about LOST. I print your articles out and send them to my friends and family that live in Europe.
Question: I haven’t had a chance to rewatch this but, didn’t Ben summon the smoke monster on the freightie guys after Keamy killed Alex? How would Ben be able to do that if the smoke monster is the MIB? What’s your take on that? Thanks.

Faraday also had a cut on his neck last season.

Did anyone else think the Focke pronounced admirable as ‘admiralble’, possibly in reference to the fact that Terry O’quinn played an Admiral in JAG? This was also reference in a series 1(?) ep in a convo with Boone.
“For all you know I was an admiral in the Navy.” Terrys character had a last name of Boone.

Tip: Now that you’ve seen LAX (1) go re-watch season 3 episode “Flashes before your eyes” – at about 13 min in, see how Desmond is looking in a mirror and Penny points out a speck of red paint on his neck – the same spot that Jack had red on his neck!! Check it out.

I feel like the writers either hate Claire or have nothing to do with her character. I’m hoping they have been keeping her on the sidelines because there is a big reveal coming with her character, but I’m really starting to doubt that is the case.

Until she showed up in the cab with Kate, I was honestly starting to wonder if the actress playing her had left the show.

Rex – yeah, I forgot to mention that little exchange between Hurley and Miles; it’s mysterious. Part of me believes it was Miles knowing that something wasn’t quite dead in Sayid just yet, but another part of me feels as though he heard Sayid talking from the other side and telling him something very secret.

Claire is… well, another matter that I hope is brought up and dealt with this season.

One thing you glossed over was the weird interaction between Miles and Hurly over Sayid’s body at the end. I think Miles as giving Hurly such a weird look because he wasn’t so sure that Sayid was dead. Or maybe he knew Sayid was dead hours ago and wondered wtf happened in the water.
Also, I think Miles was really interested in Claire because he knew SHE was dead. Or that she wasn’t quite Claire.

Focke=Smokey wasn’t much of a surprise for me either, but it was definitely well done. “I’m sorry you had to see me like that” made me laugh. Focke is lots of fun to watch.

I was wondering how Darlton were going to work in Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen entanglement before the end of the serial; looks like they may have finally checked that one off the ole’ writers room whiteboard.

Glad you’re doing the ‘Down the Hatch’ column again for the final season – yours is the only analysis I read and it really adds a layer of interest in the show from the science junkie/geek perspective.
