Getting to Know … Madyson, RealTouch spokesperson

As 2013 rapidly approaches, we may still live in a world that is sadly devoid of flying cars or robot butlers, but thanks to the hardworking engineers at RealTouch Interactive, we can at least say that the future of sex is now.

In something straight out of the smuttiest of sci-fi novels, RealTouch is a set of electronic devices that create, according to the official website, “a True Internet Sex™ experience using patented haptic technology.” Essentially, a gentleman sits at his home computer with an electronic device that replicates the motions of either his favorite adult movies or those performed by a cam model using a special interactive “joystick.” Or, to put it another way, it’s the next generation of cyber sex.

On the forefront of this new technology is Madyson, a personal trainer/fitness instructor by day and cam girl by night. Madyson has been involved with RealTouch since they started beta testing the device and she is now one of the featured cam models on their site. Guys who own a RealTouch device can set up real-time “dates” with Madyson through the site.

Madyson began doing live cam shows online a few years ago while in college. She was looking for a part-time job with flexible hours and discovered her friend was doing online shows.

“One of my girlfriends was doing it and she came to me and said, ‘You know what? I think you’d really like this,’” Madyson remembered. “I tried it, I loved it, it worked wonderfully through college. It helped me kind of transition after college … and I kept moonlighting.”

For Madyson, camming was more than just a way to make extra income. It was also a way for her to have intimacy with men. According to Madyson, she has been single for “longer than I’d care to admit without being embarrassed.”

“Men do not ask me out,” she said. “The only time I get asked out is usually only by a gent with whom I have a language barrier and who is usually about five inches shorter than myself. It doesn’t usually go so well. I’m usually the one holding my friend’s purses when we go out.”

According to Madyson, in addition to giving her simulated “dates” and a virtual social life, camming allowed her to come out of her shell and explore a part of herself that usually stays hidden.

“I’m more of the shy girl in my everyday interactions and my camming and my time spent with RealTouch allows me to release my inhibitions that I wouldn’t release in public,” said Madyson.

Of course, one of the hardest parts about camming was explaining her new line of work to her friends.

“The first time I brought it up, I had a glass of wine to help me bring it up,” Madyson said. “They were wondering why I wasn’t available certain times in the evening. ‘You don’t answer your phone from this time to this time. How come? I tried to get a hold of you and it’s always the same way.’”

She began to explain her camming to her friends and was surprised at how supportive they were.

“The response I got from the majority of them was, “Oh my gosh, I love that. I wish I could do that,”” said Madyson.

Of course, she realizes that not everyone is as understanding as her friends.

“I think there’s always a bit of a stereotype when it comes to any sort of sex industry job, in the United States especially,” Madyson said. “We’re definitely more uptight about sexuality in general than other countries. I think that stereotype is slowly starting to change and we’re starting to become more progressive, but it was definitely nerve wracking, but I got a lot of support afterwards.”

Luckily, as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, Madyson works for herself during the day, so she doesn’t have to worry about any uncomfortable conversations with her superiors about her night job. She said her daytime clients are unaware of her cam modeling.

After camming for a few years, Madyson stumbled across an article about RealTouch and was instantly intrigued. So much so, in fact, that she reached out to the company.

“I contacted them because I thought it sounded like a great product and I thought, ‘There’s no way [this thing exists]. I need to know more,’” Madyson said.

With her experience as a cam model, the company asked her to help out with beta testing earlier this year. From February to May, she had test sessions with engineers, working out the kinks (no punt intended) with the device. In May, they opened up the beta testing to real clients.

For Madyson, the beta testing was an overwhelmingly positive experience.

“It was better than I thought it would be. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, per say. I had a general idea,” said Madyson. “It was a little different at first and overwhelming – not overwhelming in a negative manner, but definitely in a positive way. It was kind of mind blowing that all of that technology stuff that we talked about being sci-fi was possible right now. I thought, ‘This is going to be a game changer.’”

In addition to the trials with the device, Madyson found herself enjoying the interaction with the engineers as well.

“It was really enjoyable. I had a lot of fun with it. The engineers are incredible, wonderful people. I got to know quite a few of them that way. So for me, it was really a great interpersonal experience as well,” said Madyson.

During the beta testing, there were several tweaks made, including the ability for the clients and cam models to communicate with each other audibly instead of having to type everything out. Madyson also has a few other tweaks she’d like to see implemented in the future, like the ability to see her clients on cam and an interactive joystick that replicates the men’s movements in the way the RealTouch device replicates hers.

“I think that it will continue to evolve,” Madyson said. “There is talk about opening it up to regular couples.”

That way, couples who travel or are in long-distance relationships would be able to share intimate moments together via the device. Madyson said this could be ideal for military members overseas whose spouses are back home.

For right now though, she thinks the product is the perfect device for busy men who simply don’t have time to go out and date. She said that she’s had four-hour long “dates” with clients which involved more talking than anything else.

“It’s really a great transition for those who don’t have time to go out like they used to,” said Madyson.

And while she too continues to look for a special someone to date in real life instead of being the girl holding her friends’ purses, for now she is content to be on the forefront of this groundbreaking new technology.

“I don’t stand behind anything I don’t believe in,” Madyson said. “This is definitely something that I think is revolutionary.”

This revolution may not be televised, but it will certainly be front and center on the computer screens of men around the globe.
