He assembled a brave team to travel to Mordor and destroy the one ring, but the one person Frodo Baggins forgot to bring along was an editor. As a result, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is filled with a lot of superfluous material. Much of that material was cut by Peter Jackson when adapting the story into a trilogy of films, but a lot of it still found its way into the director’s cut of those films. And now, with The Hobbit hitting theaters in a few weeks, AMC is screening those director’s cuts of the films back-to-back over the course of one (very long) Saturday.
Joel Murphy and Lars discuss this epic screening and wonder why anyone would want to do it. They also discuss The Hobbit, which will also be split into multiple films. And they share their thoughts on Pizza Hut’s new perfume, misleading movie trailers and the inherent funniness of naked guys.
What did Adrien Brody and Andre 3000 discuss in-between takes on their razor commercial? What is Albert Brooks’ real name? Why would you want to smell like a pizza? The answers to these questions and more are in this week’s podcast.
