Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:
Review – Elysium
Director Neill Blomkamp wowed audiences with his visually-stunning sci-fi film District 9. He follows that up with his first big budget Hollywood film Elysium. The film is set in a not-too-distant future where the rich people orbit space in a luxury, terraformed space station called Elysium. The poor people are left to wallow in their own filth back on Earth. That is, until our hero Max (Matt Damon) decides to smuggle himself into Elysium.
Bacon and Legs – Breaking Bad Los Pollos Hermanos Value Menu
The drama that put AMC on the map (and turned out to be one of the best shows on cable), Breaking Bad, launches the final half of its last season this Sunday. It’s only fitting that to celebrate the show’s farewell tour, HoboTrashcan’s resident food writer Fontina Turner has put together the “Los Pollos Hermanos Value Menu.” So whether you want to prepare a feast for your Breaking Bad viewing party, or you just need something to stress eat while you watch the drama unfold, check out these recipes for the Southwest Chicken and Biscuit Sandwich and All-Day Breakfast Chicken and Waffle Sandwich.
Positive Cynicism – Consider the loneliness of modern technology
Anyone who has been to a movie theater recently has probably seen it – the kid five rows in front of you on their smartphone the whole time, texting their friends or playing around on Facebook or writing a tweet while the movie is playing. That bright LED screen piercing through the darkness. Venture capitalist Hunter Walk has a solution to this, but its not the one you would expect. He wants to raise the house lights and let everyone use their phones on free wifi. Aaron R. Davis has a few thoughts on Walk’s proposal.
Hobo Radio 265 – Balls for balls
This week is all about oversharing. First of all, the boys explain what Bronies are and why they were having a convention in Baltimore. Then, Lars shares more about his personal life than he ever has before on the show. That leads to Joel sharing a story of the time the two of them ended up in a strange apartment with watered-down whiskey somewhere in Baltimore.
Make sure you never miss the action:
