Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:
Hobo Radio 268 – Comic book legend Dennis O’Neil
Dennis O’Neil is a legendary writer and editor who worked for both Marvel and DC comics over the course of his impressive 30 year career. In anticipation of the release of The Dark Knight Rises last July, Joel Murphy interviewed O’Neil for a story he was doing about the creation of Bane. They ended up talking in-depth about O’Neil’s career, though sadly most of the content of the interview never made it into the finished article. So, with the Internet abuzz with talk of Ben Affleck being cast as the new Batman, Joel thought it was a good time to release this interview in its entirety for the first time ever. If you are a fan of comics, you will definitely want to listen to this.
Breaking Bad – “Confessions”: What will Jesse Pinkman do?
As we get further into the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad, things have been heating up for Walter Hartwell White and those around him. This week, we find out what happens in that interrogation room that we saw at the end of last week’s episode. We discover what path Jesse Pinkman, the show’s last true wildcard, will decide to take. And, we get to see the most awkward Mexican restaurant dining experience ever. Get a complete breakdown of all of the action – and a theory on what Walt will do with that remaining vial of ricin – in our in-depth recap.
Bacon and Legs – Women’s Equality Day: Get your ass back in the kitchen
On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment was passed, finally giving women the right to vote. To commemorate this important day, August 26 is now known as “Women’s Equality Day.” In celebration of this history day, Fontina Turner talks a bit about the women’s suffrage movement, revealing how they used food as a powerful weapon to help change hearts and minds (a tactic that is obviously quite near and dear to her). She even shares recipes for two of these political climate changing food items – Rebel Soup and Election Cake.
Murphy’s Law – A SFW review of Wolverine XXX
Building an entertaining film around Wolverine seems like a no-brainer. However, Hollywood has taken two shots at giving Wolverine his own standalone film, neither of which worked as well as they should have. So perhaps there is only one man who can get it right – Axel Braun, Vivid’s go to director for superhero porn parodies. In this new installment of his “SFW review” series, Joel Murphy ignores all of the tawdry sex bits of Braun’s Wolverine XXX and focuses on the important stuff, like Braun’s attention to detail and his use of the iconic yellow spandex suit.
Positive Cynicism – You people drive me to complain
Aaron R. Davis spends a lot of time on Tumblr. Although, we imagine, sometimes he wishes he didn’t. There are things about the social networking site that make him angry. Enough things that he decided to put together a list, which covers everything from the way people on Tumblr covered the VMAs to how girls with Tumblrs are treated by their readers to the excessive adulation heaped onto Jimmy Page. And, of course, Davis reacts to Tumblr’s reaction to Ben Affleck being named the new Batman. So settle in and enjoy a good ol’ fashioned rant.
Make sure you never miss the action:
