Hello everyone,

Thanksgiving is less than a week away, so hopefully you have all made your plans and travel arrangements. Deciding whether or not to actually spend this annual celebration of gluttony and football with your family can often be a tough decision, especially if your creepy Uncle Jim is going to be there again this year.

But there is an even bigger decision to make - and that’s what to serve on the big day. Many of you will decide to kick it old school and will serve an oven-baked turkey. There is certainly nothing wrong with that decision. However, perhaps you will decide to be adventurous and kick it up a notch. Perhaps you will deep fry your turkey. Or, if you are truly adventurous (or a big fan of John Madden), you might be considering serving a Turducken - a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey.

And while you can never go wrong with two meats shoved inside a turkey, there is one more option that you may be unaware of. Perhaps you enjoy the artery-clogging goodness of a Turducken, but you just can’t shake the feeling that you could make your meal even more ridiculous and unhealthy. If you are looking for a way to send your Thanksgiving meal over the top, then I suggest the Turbaconducken. That’s a Turducken wrapped in bacon.

The health nuts over at BaconToday.com were kind enough to provide a recipe for the Turbaconducken, which you can find here:

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

Murphy’s Law - TV and the economy
We’ve all seen how the current economic crisis has affected our lives and the lives of those around us. But one important question has gone unanswered thus far – how will it affect our favorite TV shows? This week, Joel Murphy reveals how some of your favorite shows will cope with this recession.

Note to Self - Hungry like the wolf
The world of sports is a strange place right now - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb doesn’t know that football games can end in a tie, a 16-year-old girl was drafted to play professional baseball in Japan and former pro wrestler Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Couture to capture the heavyweight title at UFC 91. Brian Murphy turns to Duran Duran to make sense of it all.

Outside of the In-Crowd - Wedding Ebola 2: THE BABIES ARE COMING
In September, Courtney Enlow shared her thoughts on marriage after a slew of her friends got engaged. This week, Enlow brings us part two of her “Wedding Ebola” series and this time it’s personal. It’s bad enough that all of her friends continue to get married left and right, but now they have chosen to breed. Enlow does her best to stop this impending infestation in this week’s column.

Overrated - The Natural
Robert Redford’s classic baseball film The Natural is generally considered to be one of the greatest sports movies ever made. The catchy theme song and memorable final scene are ingrained in the minds of most sports fans. But Ned Bitters can’t help but feel that the film is overrated.

Hello everyone,

This week we managed to score an interview with Diedrich Bader, a man who has provided countless hours of joy to all of us. He has created quite a few memorable characters - Oswald from The Drew Carey Show, Lawrence from Office Space, Rex Kwan Do from Napoleon Dynamite. Tonight, he is playing Batman on a new Cartoon Network show called The Brave and The Bold. You should all check it out, it’s really good. And if you don’t believe me, check out the review of the show Joel Murphy did this week.

And after you’ve watched tonight’s premiere of The Brave and The Bold and read every single article here on HoboTrashcan, I hope you will write your local congressman to demand more Rick Moranis in our lives. Together, we can bring him back to our TVs. Yes we can.

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

One on One with Diedrich Bader
Christian Bale’s brooding, growling Dark Knight set box office records this summer and Kevin Conroy’s voice work as Batman is beloved by animation fans, but tonight a new man dons the cape and cowl – Diedrich Bader.

Bader, known for his work on The Drew Carey Show, Office Space and Napoleon Dynamite, voices Batman in an all-new Cartoon Network show, Batman: The Brave and The Bold. Based on the popular comic book series, The Brave and The Bold teams Batman up with a variety of other superheroes to battle common foes.

We recently talked to Bader about becoming Batman, learning from Scott Bakula and hearing fans shout “two chicks at the same time.”

Murphy’s Law - One Shot: Batman: The Brave and The Bold
Since Diedrich Bader was kind enough to do an interview with the site and The Cartoon Network was kind enough to send Joel Murphy an advanced copy of tonight’s premiere episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Murphy reviews the show this week in a special One Shot column.

Note to Self - Fan friendly
The New Jersey Nets are providing 1,500 free tickets over the next two months to unemployed fans who submit resumes to the team and are forwarding the resumes they receive to 120 corporate sponsors and a couple hundred firms that own season tickets. Brian Murphy thinks this is a great idea and has a few thoughts on ways other teams can get in on the act.

Outside of the In-Crowd - Wither Rick Moranis?
In the 1980s, there was a man who shrunk his kids, battled a man-eating plant, bonded with Zuul and fought valiantly against the cocky space pirate Lone Starr. That man was Rick Moranis. Moranis was a part of so many classic movies during the 80s, but sadly in recent years he has decided to step away from the spotlight. Courtney Enlow believes it’s time for Moranis to resurface.

Overrated - Our nation’s progress
Last week, America made history by electing the first African American president. While even the cynical Ned Bitters was overwhelmed with emotion when the results came in last Tuesday night, Bitters can’t help but think that we still have a long way to go in this country, which is why he believes that our nation’s progress is overrated.

Hello everyone,

Not much has happened since we last spoke … except of course the end of the longest running presidential campaign in history, which concluded with a big win for Barack Obama. The 44th President of the United States is the first African American ever elected, making this election a watershed moment in this nation’s history.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve talked a lot about the election. Those of you who are sad to see it come to an end can relive the magic of Obama and McCain’s campaigns by looking back at this week’s Outside of the In-Crowd and Murphy’s Law and last week’s Hobo Radio Podcast and Note to Self.

Those of you who are sick of the election and are glad to see it finally end, we promise that next week we will be back to the normal lighthearted foolishness that we usually offer here on HoboTrashcan.

Another good way to forget all about the election is by picking up Gears of War 2. We’ve been playing it all day here at Hobo Headquarters. In fact, I’m off to play it now. My plan is to shoot Brian Murphy in the face so that I can use him as a meat shield.

Mmmmmm … meat shield.

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

Murphy’s Law - Thing will never be the same
When the American public elected Barack Obama President of the United States, they sent a message that it was time for a change in Washington. When reflecting on this monumental change, Joel Murphy began thinking of the Tupac Shakur song “Changes.” He shares his thoughts on the song and the election in this week’s column.

Note to Self - Ryan’s got Falcons flying
This week, Brian Murphy spotlights Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who came into a tough situation by playing for a team that finished 4-12 last year after the face of the franchise, quarterback Mike Vick, being arrested on dog fighting charges. Faced with a tough situation, Ryan has thrived.

Outside of the In-Crowd - Vote or die … unless you shouldn’t
This past Monday, Courtney Enlow encourage everyone to get out there and vote … well, not everyone, exactly. Enlow gave eight groups of people who she believed should not be allowed to vote, a list which included people who believe that Obama is a Muslim and those who are anti-Kool Aid.

Overrated - The following foods …
We suspect that Ned Bitters might have had a case of the munchies when he sat down to write his column this week, since Bitters takes the time to explain why extra cheese on pizza, fried chicken, Chinese food, veal, oysters, “All You Can Eat” french fries, cheese on top of a burger, popcorn, hot sauces and lobster are all overrated.

There will be no new Hobo Radio Podcast this week, but please check out our all-new From the Vault and Recyclables.

Hello everyone,

As I mentioned last week, I’ve been having some trouble coming up with a good Halloween costume. Frankly, people were getting tired of me dressing like a hobo every year and my idea to dress up like a can of soup didn’t really go over any better with everyone here at Hobo Headquarters.

I thought about dressing up as a sexy cheerleader, but then I read Courtney Enlow’s column and realized she would look down on me if I did that. Then I thought about breaking out one of Clinton Portis’ classic characters like Southeast Jerome or Coach Janky Spanky, but after reading Ned Bitters attack on the NFL’s drug policy and Brian Murphy claim that the fate of the election rests on the shoulders of the Washington Redskins, I thought it was best to avoid sports costumes.

So I was truly at a loss for what to do. Then I came across a photo online and suddenly I knew what to do. This year I’ve decided to adopt a small child so that I can go as a chef who is carrying around a delicious lobster baby.

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

Murphy’s Law - It’s time for a change
This Sunday, we will all set our clocks back an hour, officially bringing an end to Daylight Saving Time. But Joel Murphy thinks it’s time for a change - it’s time to stop setting our clocks back every fall and moving them forward every spring. Murphy believes we should keep Daylight Saving Time in place year-round.

Note to Self - No we can’t
Celebrities, pundits and political wonks have been telling you that you need to get out and vote next Tuesday because your vote can make a difference. Brian Murphy disagrees. He believes that this presidential race will be decided by the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Outside of the In-Crowd - I am judging you for being dressed like a whore
While Courtney Enlow would love to embrace a holiday that is devoted to wearing silly costumes and getting free candy, she can’t help but get upset whenever she sees a trashy girl in a slutty nurse, slutty pirate wench or slutty bee costume. So this week, Enlow has no choice but to “go Ned Bitters all over your face.”

Overrated - The NFL’s drug policy
No one can really argue that the NFL’s policy banning their players from using steroids and illegal drugs is a bad thing … no one except Ned Bitters, that is. Bitters believes that it is hypocritical for the league to come down on illegal substances when players are popping pain pills and chugging alcohol.

Also make sure to check out our Hobo Radio Podcast, as well as an all-new From the Vault and Recyclables.

Happy Halloween,

Hello everyone,

I need your help. I’m having trouble coming up with a good Halloween costume this year and I only have one more week to plan.

I thought about dressing as Sarah Palin, but Ned Bitters is already planning on going as her - at least, I think he is. Otherwise, I’m not really sure why he was trying on that dress and those glasses in his office the other day.

But, I digress …

I need a good costume idea. The last three years I’ve gone as a hobo, so I really need to change things up.

Here’s what’s new on HoboTrashcan.com this week:

Murphy’s Law - One Shot: Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling
If Joel Murphy was still 10 years old and this was still the height of Hulkamania, there is no doubt that he would tune in every week to Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Unfortunately, these days the Hulkster is best known for the gossip stories constantly surrounding his family. Still, a lingering sense of nostalgia convinced Murphy to give this show “One Shot.”

Outside of the In-Crowd - Kicking the habit (no this is not an inappropriate nun joke)
This week, on a very special Outside of the In-Crowd, Courtney Enlow admits that she has a painful addiction to a dangerous drug - over the counter nasal spray. Enlow, like many Americans, got hooked on the stuff to treat her allergy symptoms, but soon found that she couldn’t control her craving.

Overrated - Throwback uniforms
Many sports fans see throwback uniforms as a symbol of the good ol’ days and a way to remember the glory years of their favorite team. Ned Bitters sees throwback uniforms as an excuse for teams to make money. He also has some suggestions to make the whole “throwback” concept more authentic.

Guest Blog - Memoirs of a science class survivor
Movies and television usually depict high school science classes as a safe place where frogs are dissected and periodic tables are memorized. But one thing Hollywood fails to capture is the underlying danger awaiting the average high school student at every turn. This week, Tim Kelly sets the record straight.
